JSSK started as a Pilot Project in Tamil Nadu by TNHSP and operated through IRCS-TNB on 01.11.2013.

Year wise Performance

Achievement of transportation for Mentally illness patients (Nov’18 to Sep’21)

TNHSP instructed to transport mentally illness patients to the Govt. Health Facilities / Rehabilitation Homes through JSSK vehicle from 2018.

In each District one JSSK Drop Back vehicle is allotted for free transport service.

Procedure followed:

On receiving information from 102 Call Centre / DMPH, the Driver of JSSK will take the allotted JSSK vehicle to transport mentally ill patients with the help of Police and Counsellors from spot to Government Hospital / Rehabilitation Homes.

New Initiatives during Pandemic situation through 102 Call Center

During the lockdown period the general public was suffered to get the medical facilities due to non-availability of transportation. The TNHSP officials initiated to provide the medical facilities to Dialysis and Cancer patients through 102 Drop Back Service vehicles.

TRANSPORTATION AMENITIES:

Dialysis Patients transportation

From Mar-2020 to Sep 2021, 58534 Dialysis patients is been transported to the Govt Hospital for the dialysis treatment from the residence to Govt Hospital and from Govt Hospital to their residence

Cancer Patients Transportation

From Mar-2020 to Sep 2021, 2293 cancer patients is been transported to the Govt hospitals from their residence for the chemotherapy treatment and dropped back to their residence from the Govt hospital.

Medicine distributed to Patients Home

During lockdown medicine is distributed from the government hospital / Adyar Cancer Institute to the patient residence in various districts.

108 – Ambulance Services:

“108” Ambulance Service is being successfully operated in Tamil Nadu through PPP (Public Private Partnership) mode through a single Toll Free number and the services are available 24x7 free to the public. Every ambulance has one fully trained Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) who provides pre-hospital care to the patient.

Emergency Care Centre

Emergency Care Centres are established for stabilizing the critical cases during long distance transport, especially in highways. This enables the critical cases to receive timely medical intervention within the Golden Hour which also significantly reduces the mortality rate. ECC is a three bedded centre equipped with doctors and advanced paramedics available 24x7 and provided with emergency drugs and advanced life saving equipments like ventilator, defibrillator with multi Para monitor, etc.

DISASTER RECOVERY CENTRE (DRC) STATE FUNDS :

It acts as a redundancy emergency response centre Provide uninterrupted Emergency Response in case of major disaster and technological breakdown in the main ERC. Will be operational 24 hours. Proposed at Pudukkottai

STEMI(ST ELEVATION MI) NHM/TANII

To ensure all the patients in the cluster are able to access the ‘state of art’ Cardiac care by STEMI kit transmission in 108 Ambulance.
To ensure improvement in the quality of acute STEMI care by decreasing the time from onset of symptom to investigation and initiation of treatment..
To ensure early intervention for life saving by Hub –Spoke Model.

APGDEC (ADVANCED POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN EMERGENCY CARE)

To equip students with advanced skills and knowledge to handle all medical, gynaecological, neonatal, paediatric and trauma emergencies These Advanced Paramedics will be used in ALS ambulances and Emergency Care Centres.

Disaster recovery ambulance provides rescue operation and pre-hospital care especially during flood Under fabrication by IIT Madras

BOAT AMBULANCE

In order to extend the service of 108 Emergency Response Service to habitations near water bodies (Fresh water/Back water/Sea) proposed to introduce one boat ambulance at Kasimedu fishing Harbour.

Free Hearse Services –Introduction

On 26th February 2011, Government of Tamil Nadu have established Free Hearse Service in the State on Public Private Partnership (PPP).
Call Center Number 155377 (24X7 Service).
Provide free (Hearse) Mortuary Van Services to the patients who die in Government Medical Institutions in Tamil Nadu.
Currently 220 vehicles are in operation covering 38 districts covering all Government Medical Institutions.
This service is also rendered 100% support during major accidents, nature calamities and disaster for transporting the deceased to the Government Hospitals for autopsy and then to their destination.
Our service is also initiated for transportation of cases through Railways from Chennai to long distant places throughout India (more than 300 KM)
NRI cases also transported.
unknown bodies from the Government Hospitals to burial ground were transported at the request of these Government Hospitals and the Police Authorities since there were no claimants of these dead bodies
Now our services are also included for transportation of cases from the death spot (MLC) to Hospitals for postmortem with the help of crime report received from the Police Department.
Permitted to utilize the free Hearse Services for the deceased who dies in Adyar Cancer Institute, Adyar (Women’s India Association), JIPMER, Pondicherry.
Permitted to transport the deceased from Private institutions those who underwent treatment under CMCHIS.
Permitted to transport the deceased from Tribal Hospitals in Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Coimbatore and The Nilgiris.

FREE HEARSE SERVICE

Upgradation of Free Hearse Service

In Government Hospital many peoples died because of COVID-19, since the death numbers are higher, and private vehicles charged more cost to transport corpses, the Government of Tamil Nadu has passed an order to fabricate 20 Free Hearse vehicles with 6 stretchers in each vehicle to transport more corpses in same trip. 4047 corpses are been transported in May-21 to Sep-21 through these 20 vehicles.

COVID - PANDEMIC

Pandemic has brought sufferings, fear and death to population everywhere. In Government Hospital many peoples died because of COVID-19, since the death numbers are higher, and private vehicles charged more cost to transport corpses, the Government of Tamil Nadu has passed an order to fabricate 20 Free Hearse vehicles with 6 stretchers in each vehicle to transport more corpses in same trip.

STRATERGIES

Call flow of request for the transportation of corpses is increased 4 times in the pandemic situation than the regular days
To access quick help to the relatives of deceased person we allotted help desk near the mortuary Room of govt hospital to minimize the delay in transporting the corpses and to clarify their queries regarding the official procedure
To cremate the body, we coordinated with nearby the burial grounds along with the Health Inspectors
To transport maximum corpses in minimum trips we newly modified 20 Free Hearse vehicles with 6 stretchers in each vehicle.
To minimize the spread of COVID-19 the corpses is handled only by our drivers and hospital workers
