According to an official release, the Nalam Kaakkum Stalin initiative, launched by Mr. Stalin on August 2 this year, aims to provide advanced medical services through special health camps. The State government has sanctioned ₹13.58 crore to organise 1,256 camps across the State, with priority for areas that have limited access to medical facilities.
At these health camps, priority is being given to people above 40 years of age, those with diabetes and hypertension, persons with mental health issues, cardiac ailments, pregnant women, children with developmental delays, persons with disabilities and tribal communities. So far, 632 camps have been conducted across the State, benefiting 9,86,732 people, the press release said.
During the review meeting, Mr. Stalin instructed officials to ensure basic facilities at the camps and to deploy enough volunteers to guide the public. He also directed officials to make special arrangements for young mothers and persons with disabilities and to ensure follow-up treatment for those diagnosed and referred for further care.
